DHL Global Forwarding Ethiopia has an opening for an Ocean Freight Specialist where you will develop and administer OFR Ops/CS plans and processes to deliver flow of goods and information across the customer’s global supply chain utilizing ocean transportation, maximizing profitability, and optimizing utilization of business and human assets in line with business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies. In this Ocean Freight Specialist position
- You will execute OFR Ops/CS plans and processes to provide ocean freight services for internal and external customers.
- You will assess and interpret to provide requirements of freight control center, and to support and provide operations team with the required details, information, and instructions for operational performance.
- You will implement freight administration in providing allocation and reservations of freight on planned line haul.
- You will participate to develop and execute plans for ocean freight products in areas such as perishables, pharmaceutical, aviation, etc.
- You will develop opportunities to expand business with new clients and continuously improve in[1]house customer services.
- You will maintain close business relationship with existing clients, conduct customer visits and achieve a desired level of customer retention.
- You will track account performances and provide monthly reports to management.
- You will execute pricing strategy and respond to pricing enquiries in an efficient and competitive manner.
- You will conduct day-to-day shipment documentation for freight forwarding, assist in development of shipping tenders and ensure on-time submission on relevant documents.
- You will identify opportunities to enhance ocean freight productivity, and efficient resource allocation and utilization.
- You will analyse and provide input for processes and design systems to enhance service quality.
- You will study and resolve issues in day-to-day delivery and implement practices for OFR Ops/CS focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
- You will create and/or confirm transport orders, perform, and optimize bookings.
- You will prepare, control, and distribute all required Import/Export documents.
- You will identify performance issues of suppliers and propose solutions to improve performance.
- You will update Customs shipment information and physical status, resolve customer issues and incidents.

- 2 to 3 years related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience/qualification
