ABOUT LINK EDUCATION ETHIOPIA
Link Education Ethiopia (LEE) is part of Link Education International (LEI), a family of not for profit organizations working together to transform education for children and communities across impoverished areas of Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda and Uganda. Since our foundation in 1995 we have worked in 3,000 schools and improved the lives of over 2,000,000 children through unique and effective school improvement models. We guide governments and educators to adopt low-cost solutions to improve learning and support for children, with a focus on literacy, numeracy and inclusion for the most marginalized children. LEI, based in Edinburgh – Scotland, supports all project, M&E, fundraising, finance and governance activities in our four sub-Saharan partner countries
JOB PURPOSE
The Programme Assistant Intern is going to be responsible for performing a variety of tasks – related to the implementation of the Supporting Transition of Adolescent Girls through Enhanced Systems (STAGES) project. Moreover, the Programme Assistant Intern is going to provide support to Link Education International – Ethiopia Country Representative particularly with tasks related to: the implementation of Link Education Business Plan, the Donor Engagement Plan as well as with other organization’s fund-raising and networking efforts. Lastly, it is expected that the Programme Assistant Intern contribute to raising the profile of the overall Link Education global family through internal and external communications.
INDICATIVE AREAS OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
STAGES
- Support the STAGES program team in general, and particularly the MEAL Manager, on documentation of program performances—including but not limited to organizing and filing all projects’ documents
- Facilitate and organize events/workshops/trainings together with STAGES program teams including sharing of training materials, tools and templates, etc.
ADDIS ABABA COUNTRY OFFICE
- Assis the Country Representative in: o fund-raising efforts (e.g. donor mapping and donor engagement plan)
- Business Plan development, with particular focus on:
- Governance and Organizational Excellence
- External facing
- Capacity strengthening
- Communication (e.g. social media update; blog reviews; etc..)
- Assist the Country Representative and the Finance & Administration Team on:
- Policies review, update and translation into Amharic
LINK EDUCATION INTERNATIONAL
- To assist Link Education to raise the profile of the charity through their internal and external communications. Particularly with relations to:
- Drafting and editing copy for inclusion in LEI’s newsletter, blog and other mass mailings; – Providing content for social media in collaboration with LEI’s strategy and schedule;
- Gathering case studies, supporting the production of publications, supporting in the commission of photography/video to promote Link’s work
- Collaborating closely with LEI’s Comms & Admin Officer to provide information and content for Link’s global communications.
- Facilitating the series of webinar ‘Linkages’
SAFEGUARDING & PERSONAL ETHICS
- Commitment to Link’s Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct
- Promote a vigilant and transparent safeguarding culture throughout Link Education Ethiopia
- Be responsible to safeguard the wellbeing of children, vulnerable adults and all who may come into contact with our work, promptly reporting incidents/concerns in line with Link’s internal reporting and external referral procedures.
Contract Type: Internship Contract (3 months with possibility of extension to maximum 6 months)

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- As per the LEE ‘Increasing Youth Workforce with Special Focus on Women’ Internship Programme, an intern is either: – A female youth student from an accredited university, both graduate and undergraduate, who in her last year before graduation, needs to attain practical work experience to fulfil academic requirements
- A female youth graduate who—within 12 months of her graduation date—needs to gain practicalwork experience in her area of study.
- Interns should be between 18 and 29 of age as per National Youth Policy of the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth which states that “a youth is anyone from the ages of 18 to 29”.
Essential
- Undertaking a, or in possession of, a B.ED/B.A Degree in Social studies and/or Education and/or Education Planning & Management and/or Economics and/or Gender Studies and/or Social Science & related areas
- Good communication skill in English and Amharic
- Good interpersonal and team skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, detailed oriented and organizational skills
- Sympathy with the objectives and values of Link
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and action
