Program Overview
The ESX Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a 12-month, full-time, on-the-job training program designed for talented and highly motivated recent graduates. It aims to equip participants with practical knowledge, technical skills, and professional exposure in capital markets, exchange operations, financial analysis, policy, and regulation.
The program is non-renewable and does not guarantee full-time employment with ESX or its partners upon completion. However, successful candidates will be well-positioned for opportunities in various institutions within the capital market ecosystem and beyond.

Five (5) positions available.
Program Objectives
The Young Professionals Program (YPP) aims to build a strong foundation for the next generation of capital market professionals in Ethiopia. The program is designed to:
Build foundational knowledge and practical skills in securities exchange operations and capital markets.
Provide hands-on exposure to financial market infrastructure, instruments, operations, and regulatory environments.
Develop strong analytical and quantitative capabilities relevant to economics, finance, and investment sectors.
Support career entry into capital market-related professions, including roles in investment banks, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
Equip young graduates, particularly female graduates and individuals from underserved regions, with industry-relevant skills and professional experience in capital markets.
Cultivate leadership, innovation, and ethical standards aligned with the demands of a modern and inclusive financial sector.
Build a sustainable pipeline of professionals who can add value to the capital markets ecosystem, i.e. investment banks, brokerage firms.
Duration
12 months (one year) full-time engagement.

About You
Key Responsibilities
Participants will be assigned to different departments or projects within the ESX. Typical responsibilities may include:
Conducting economic and market research.
Performing financial and data analysis.
Supporting listing and trading operations.
Contributing to the development of regulatory and operational frameworks.
Preparing reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
Supporting stakeholder engagement and investor education initiatives.
Assisting in the development of analytical models and dashboards.
Participate in project management activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Assist in coordinating and tracking project milestones.
Collaborate with teams across different departments, mainly in Business Development and operations.
Participate in training programs that the Exchange provides to enhance financial and business acumen
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Ethiopian Securities Exchange Young Professionals Program (YPP), applicants must meet the following requirements:
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree (completed within the last two years) in Accounting and Finance, Economics, Law, Business-related, or a closely related field.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 is required.
For female applicants, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is accepted to encourage gender inclusion.
Fresh graduates with up to two years of related experience.
Analytical and Quantitative Skills:
Demonstrated strong analytical thinking, numerical proficiency, and data interpretation skills.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English and Amharic languages
Proficiency in other Ethiopian language(s) is considered an asset.
Additional Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse teams.
Interest in financial markets and capital market development.
Interest or academic exposure in Islamic finance, including Sharia-compliant securities, will be considered an asset.
