The Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is a national disability-based, non-governmental, and non-profit Civil Society Organization (CSO). ECDD is committed to promoting the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities through policy advocacy and the mainstreaming of disability inclusion in service delivery, development programs, humanitarian actions, and peace initiatives. Established in 2005, ECDD is dedicated to fostering an inclusive Ethiopia where persons with disabilities in all their diversities exercise their human rights and have access to mainstream services and opportunities on an equal basis with others.
- Purpose of the Position
ECDD is seeking a creative and motivated Volunteer/Intern Graphic Designer to support the development of high-quality visual communication materials that enhance the organization’s visibility, advocacy, branding, and knowledge-sharing efforts. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals who wish to gain practical experience while contributing to disability inclusion and social impact. The successful candidate will transform technical information into attractive, accessible, and engaging designs for print and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
The Volunteer/Intern Graphic Designer will:
- Design high-quality communication materials for print and digital platforms, including reports, brochures, infographics, presentations, posters, banners, and social media content.
- Develop creative visual concepts that effectively communicate ECDD’s programmes, advocacy messages, and project achievements.
- Produce accessible communication materials that follow principles of inclusive design and disability-sensitive communication.
- Design branding materials for conferences, workshops, campaigns, exhibitions, and public events.
- Develop visual assets for websites, digital campaigns, newsletters, and other online communication channels.
- Create templates for reports, presentations, publications, and organizational communication products.
- Collaborate with programme teams to transform technical information into clear and engaging graphics and infographics.
- Ensure consistency with ECDD’s corporate identity and branding guidelines.
- Coordinate with printers and production service providers to ensure quality printing and timely delivery.
- Maintain an organized library of design templates, photographs, icons, illustrations, and other visual assets.
- Stay updated on emerging design trends, software, and best practices.
- Perform other graphic design and communication duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Qualifications, Experiences, Competencies and Skills
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or final-year study in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Architecture, or a related field.
- Additional training or certification in branding, digital media, multimedia production, or visual communication is an advantage.
- Professional Experience
- Recent graduates or candidates with up to two (2) years of professional experience in graphic design, branding, or visual communication.
- Demonstrated experience designing communication materials for both print and digital platforms.
- Experience developing reports, brochures, infographics, presentations, social media graphics, branding materials, or other visual communication products through academic, freelance, internship, volunteer, or professional work is desirable.
- Technical SkillsProficiency in two or more of the following:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe InDesign
- Canva
Knowledge of layout design, typography, branding, print production, and digital publishing is highly desirable.
